NMF-1000
Fast and Accurate Measurement Solution for Aspheric and Freeform Optics
Metrology plays a crucial role in realizing the potential of complex surfaces in the measurement of aspherical and freeform optics. Dutch United Instruments (DUI) has introduced the NMF™ series, built upon TNO’s proven NANOMEFOS technology.
Full-Form Precision Metrology for Optics Up to One Meter
The NMF 1000 is the largest standard configuration in the NMF lineup, purpose-built to support optics up to 1000 mm. Ideal for cutting-edge applications that demand ultra-precise data across large surfaces, this system brings unprecedented scale to shop-floor metrology without compromising resolution or speed.
The accuracy of an interferometer with the versatility of a coordinate measuring machine.
This machine is specifically designed to provide easy and accurate metrology of complex optics to the workshop floor. This fast, non-contact tool is capable of measuring optics ranging from convex to concave and from flat to freeform, with a typical measurement uncertainty below 15 nm rms.
NMF Platform Approach
The NMF products combine five characteristics: versatility, accuracy, speed, non-contact and ease of use into one machine, making it one tool to cover all form metrology needs in modern high-end optical manufacturing.
Non-Contact Dual-Stage Probe
High NA confocal sensor combined with a special dual-stage design enables fast measurement of any rotationally symmetric parts such as spheres & aspheres as well as for non-rotationally symmetric freeform surfaces without sacrificing measurement speed.
The NMF Advantage
Closed-loop Metrology system with an extremely stable metrology frame.
Illustrative user interface requiring only brief (half day) operator training.
No need for frequent calibration, ensuring high availability: annual calibration is proven sufficient for many users

Key Enabling Technology
Cylindrical Coordinate Measurement Machine Setup
This ‘giant cd-player’ setup enables a couple of the key characteristics of NMF products, being universal and fast. The product to be measured is mounted on an air-bearing spindle, which is rotating continuously at for instance 1 rev/s. A non-contact confocal probe is mounted on a rotation axis (Ψ-axis) which positions it perpendicular to the surface to be measured or the best-fit rotational symmetric surface in case of freeform surfaces. The probe can be moved in radial (R) and vertical direction (Z) with the R and Z-stage, respectively.
